The ILO has gathered internal funding through multiple departments and the buyers' group of the MFA Forum contributes to the budget in the amount of USD 15.000. Thanks to this joint effort, three overall objectives will be pursued:
1. Support to the National Textile and Garment Bipartite Committee (social partners) and Steering Committee (social partners + Government): a study assessing the impact of the crisis on the sector will be done and used as basis for discussion by the Committees. Capacity building actions will be developed focusing on negotiation and on the set up of Workers Representatives and Hygiene & Security Committees.
2. Capacity Building at Factory Level: Training sessions will be organised for Human Resources managers upon set up of the Workers Representatives and Hygiene & Security Committees. Unions and worker representatives will receive parallel training on how to develop these activities.
3. Better Work: In order to ensure the feasibility of the programme, consistent scoping work will take place along with several consultations leading to a specific project design.
For implementing these activities, a central coordination function is required onsite and will be set up in due course.
