RESEARCH PHASE II: Possibilities for the Lesotho Industry
At the end of 2005, three studies were commissioned by the World Bank to look at vertical integration of the apparel chain in Lesotho, the possibilities of diversifying the market opportunities for the Lesotho garment industry, and a study to look at competitiveness and corporate responsibility in Lesotho's apparel sector.

RESEARCH PHASE I: Anticipated Impacts of Phase Out
In 2004, the MFA Forum commissioned a suite of research to further explore the implications of the phase out of quota. These reports can be downloaded via the links below.
Managing the Transition to a Responsible Global Textile and Garment Industry is a synthesis of the research undertaken by AccountAbility, Business for Social Responsibility (BSR) and the World Bank for the MFA Forum.

Mapping the End of the MFA by AccountAbility for the MFA Forum examines predicted impacts of the phase out of quota on industry, and policy options for different actors, including an in-depth analysis of the predicted impact on 10 developing countries.

The Multi-Fibre Arrangement (MFA) Strategic Sourcing Impact: The Private Sector Perspective by BSR is a study of the effect that the phase out of the MFA will have on the future sourcing decisions of the private sector.

Labor Market Adjustment to the Multi-Fiber Arrangement commissioned by The World Bank reviews recent international experiences with labor market adjustment and discusses key factors in a country's macroeconomic environment and existing labor market conditions that may determine the relative ease by which countries adjust. The paper concludes with recommendations for public policy and programs to assist garment and apparel workers who lose their jobs in the wake of the MFA expiration.
